Oluṣẹgun Ọbasanjọ is the former President of the federal republic of Nigeria. He served as military ruler for three years, between 1976 and 1979 before being as elected as president in 1999. He won second term, and governed until 2007.
Obasanjo is a member of the Club de Madrid, and has founded the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, which is committed to advancing human security. He has won international praise for Nigeria’s role in peacekeeping missions in Sierra Leone and Liberia, and is widely acknowledged as championing debt relief and democracy.
