OUR ACHIEVEMENTS THUS FAR

Since its inception in the year 2010, Africa 2.0 continues to grow apace. Thus far, we have -

  • Gathered over 300 leaders from Africa and the Diaspora who conducted extensive research and brainstorming (23,000 hours) which brought about the Vision Africa 2.0 Manifesto. The manifesto has since been endorsed by 40 ministers of education across Africa at ADEA Triennale, the African capacity building foundation, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, African Development Bank as well as the Africa Progress Panel.
  • 22 active country chapters globally including Asia, North America, Europe.
  • To date, 18000 Facebook  likes, 12 921 newsletter subscribers.
  • Invited to the G20 Preparatory Meetings in France.
  • Made recommendations to the G20 on Diaspora Bond and Regional Commodity Exchanges
  • Currently finalizing an MOU with the African Union.
  • Sponsors mobilized to date include MTN, The OCP group, Dangote group of companies, the African capacity building foundation to mention a few.

2011

 

June: Africa 2.0 Leadership Symposium Kenya . Opened by Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Chaired by Hon. Olusegun Obasanjo

November: Africa 2.0 Partners with 400 Media houses in Sub Saharan Africa.

 

2012

 

January:  Launch of the Vision Africa 2.0 Manifesto on the side of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Launch Vision of the Vision Africa 2.0 Manifesto at Africa Union Summit in Ethiopia.

 

June: Organized a Session on Entrepreneurship at New York Africa Forum in Libreville (Gabon) as Strategic Partner.

 

3rd annual Africa 2.0 leadership Symposium, Lagos Nigeria.

 

July: Constitution of Africa 2.0 Advisory Board – the Advisory board is headed by HE Olusegun Obasanjo the former president of Nigeria. Other members of the board include - Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Ms. Wendy Luhabe and Hadeel Ibrahim to mention a few.

 

November: Nurturing Human Capital for Growth in Africa a 2 day Workshop (Dakar, Senegal).

 

Start Up Week End Competition for tech entrepreneurs (Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire)

 

December: Launch Start Up Weekend for young entrepreneurs, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Africa 2.0 manifesto.

The Africa 2.0 manifesto is a developmental frame work that proposes suggestions
and solutions addressing common challenges faced by the continent. Launched
at the African Union summit in Addis Ababa and the world economic forum in
Davos, the manifesto is acknowledged and endorsed by African leaders and the
international media as a credible and sustainable framework for properly unlocking
Africa’s potential.

Entrepreneurship constitutes one of the pillars of the Vision Africa 2.0 manifesto.
The pivotal role assigned to Entrepreneurship within the vision is based on the
assertion that Africa’s greatest wealth is its people. As such, the vision seeks to -

•Foster a generation of Africans that take ownership of their destiny.

•Build and keep an educated, skilled, rewarded workforce that will propel Africa.

•Create a knowledge based society that is able to apply knowledge and innovation.
